When Does a 24-Hour Gmail or EDU Email Rental Make Sense?

One buyer only wanted to sign up for the GitHub Student Pack once: verify his identity with an EDU email, get the free developer tool credits, and after that he'd hardly need the mailbox again. But when he went to order, he found two kinds of product: an EDU email account you "own permanently" and a "24-hour use" rental, several times cheaper, and he wasn't sure which to pick.

- Short-term development and debugging. Testing a tool or API that only accepts EDU email sign-ups: once this round of testing is done, you don't need to keep the mailbox long term.

What to check before renting
- Whether the window is long enough. Make sure the time from ordering to finishing the verification flow fits inside the rental window, so the mailbox doesn't expire while you're stuck halfway through verification.
